Problem Note 60280: The task to retrieve hot fixes does not work as expected with SAS® 9.4 software orders

When you use the SAS® Deployment Wizard Select Deployment Task page to retrieve and update hot fixes in your SAS 9.4 Software Depot, the process might not work as it should. You should be able to select the Manage this SAS Software Depot task and then select Retrieve Hot Fixes on the Manage SAS Software Depots page to find and download the latest hot fixes. Currently, however, doing so might result in an error. 

In particular, retrieving hot fixes is not working as expected for SAS 9.4 software orders that are earlier (older) than SAS 9.4 TS1M4 Rev. 17w21. When you attempt to retrieve these hot fixes, the following error occurs:

An unexpected error has occurred.

The following error might also be present in the SDW_date-time.log file:

SEVERE: java.lang.NumberFormatException: Infinite or NaN

Before you can address this issue, you need to determine the revision number of your software.

Check the Revision (Rev.) Number of Your SAS Software Order

To determine the revision(s) of your software order(s), do the following:

  1. Open the soi.html file within each order:   Navigate to the install_doc folder of your SAS Software Depot. In the install_doc folder, notice folder(s) there representing the order number(s). Open the <order-number> folder and open the soi.html file.
  2. Look for the Internal Reference line. This line indicates the SAS release and revision number. 
    If the revision number is earlier (older) than SAS 9.4 TS1M4 Rev. 940_17w21, you cannot download hot fixes using the Retrieve Hot Fixes method.  In this case, follow the workaround below.

Workaround

Follow these steps for any SAS 9.4 orders earlier (older) than SAS 9.4 TS1M4 Rev. 940_17w21:

  1. Using the SAS Download Manager, download your order(s) again to the depot location that you already have.  
    Important: Do not download the order to a new location. Downloading to your original depot updates the depot with the applicable hot fixes. The order number and SAS Installation Key information are located in the soi.html file.
  2. After you download the order to the same location, click Yes in the dialog box, as in this screen shot. Note that the download should not take as long as it did when it was originally downloaded because it is downloading only the applicable hot fixes that are not currently in the depot. Only the delta of what was not present is downloaded.
